Dental Bridges in KelownaAllison Munro
A dental bridge is a permanent appliance that replaces a missing tooth or missing teeth. It’s made up of several pieces that are fused together to fit into the open space where your tooth or teeth used to be. Your Care Dental dentists are experts in this area, and work with Schack Dental to provide you with the beautiful smile that you deserve.
Dental bridges are often used to replace or as an alternative to partial dentures, with the advantages of both practical and aesthetic purposes, enabling you to eat and speak better as well as restoring your teeth’s appearance.
There are several different types of bridges, with the most common types being
a) Traditional Fixed Bridge. This bridge includes a crown on either side of the artificial teeth or “pontic”
b) Resin-bonded Bridge. This bridge is most often used to replace front teeth and used porcelain or metal frameworks that bond to the back of teeth on either side of the gap.
c) Implant Supported Bridges. An implant on either side of the gap is surgically imbedded into the patient’s jaw. The bridge, which contains the artificial teeth or “pontics” is placed over these implants in a later procedure.
